Elementary School Division
Grade 4-5
30 teams will participate, with the top 12 advancing to the Pre-Quarterfinal, where the Top 4 auto-advance; the next 8 will compete for a slot at the Quarterfinal.
Format: 4-minute speeches, 2-minute replies.
Middle School Division
Grade 6-8
70 teams will compete in the preliminary rounds. The division maintains VMDC’s traditional two-break structure:
Open Break: Top 16 teams with the highest rankings entering the Octofinal
Junior Break: Next top 16 teams composed entirely of Grade 6–7 debaters entering the Junior Octofinal
Format: 6-minute speeches, 3-minute replies

Composite teams are permitted.
Institutional teams will be given priority subject to slot availability.
Registration is conducted on a team basis rather than a school basis. Each team must register separately through the official VMDC registration form.
Teams are encouraged to use names associated with their institution for consistency and easy identification (e.g., TNIS Blue, TNIS Gold, ABC School A). Composite teams may select a suitable name that represents their team identity.
